Holme Hale Bridge Closed – C117 Necton Road/ Cooks Road, Necton/ Holme Hale

From Monday, March 4 until Friday, March 8, 2024, the C117 Necton Road/Cook Road between Necton and Holme Hale (at the bridge) will be closed to Vehicles.
The road closure is required so work can be carried out to repair accident damage to Holme Hale Road Bridge (TF80206). Owing to the bridge’s narrow road width, a full road closure around-the-clock is required to guarantee that work is carried out safely. Between the Parishes of Necton to the north and Holme Hale to the south, the Bridge spans the River Wissey.
The main diversion route must be promoted onto a same or higher road class. The diversion route will be via School Road to the south, C116 Swaffham Road, C118 Whitegate Road and then onto the A47 at the North Pickenham Road junction. Then off the A47 onto Tuns Road, Necton (and vice versa). Gatemen will be in place to ONLY allow the school buses through morning and afternoon. This has been agreed with the bus operators.
The County Council thanks people for their patience while these repairs to the bridge are carried out.
The work which will cost £6,000 will be carried out by Norfolk County Council’s Community and Environmental Services Department and their contractors Tarmac.

Highway Matters

We have reported the blocked drains under the Railway Bridge on the Ashlll Road which floods badly. It is hoped these will be cleared quickly and the problem resolved.
Other blocked drains in the village have also been reported.

We have reported the many potholes on our village roads to Highways. Some of them are quite large and we have stressed the need for urgent repairs.
